12.01.2010

"The Bulgarian Industrial Association – Union of the Bulgarian Business has adopted the following standpoint with regard to the declared intentions for temporal suspension of all procedures and projects concerning the implementation of renewable energy sources (RES):

1. Above all, the preparation, the detailed and in-depth discussion with the respective branch organizations and parties should be accelerated, and a clear long-term energy strategy for the Republic of Bulgaria, encompassing the period till 2020 (2030), should be adopted. It should include the following:

  • Prognoses for economic development and energy consumption;
  • Reduction of hothouse gas emissions in 2020 (with up to 50 percent in comparison to the 1988 levels, and in compliance with the Climate-Energy Package;
  • Interrelated measures and policies for the so-called “low-carbon” development of the industry, the way of living, transport, services, the urban policy and other major sectors;
  • Reduction of the economy’s energy intensity (improving energy efficiency);
  • Standpoint on the so-called “energy mix” (developing highly efficient low-carbon energy technologies including new nuclear facilities etc.)................."
