The Intended Rise of the Natural Gas Prices
18.11.2009"In order to be competitive on the European and world markets, the Bulgarian industry needs a stable and foreseeable economic environment. One of the major factors for this stability is the price of primary energy carriers. We are witnessing changes in the energy carriers’ price within the EU member states. Unfortunately, Bulgargaz EAD intends to raise drastically the natural gas prices in Bulgaria at the beginning of next week.
The Bulgarian Industrial Association has repeatedly drawn the public attention to problems, arising before the big industrial energy consumers due to the extremely slow liberalization of the Bulgarian energy market. The adopted amendments in the Energy Act introduced full liberalization of the natural gas market in the Republic of Bulgaria and since July 1, 2007, in compliance with the European Union Gas Directive, all natural gas consumers in the country have been granted privileges and allowed to choose whom to buy their gas from, i.e. their supplier. Unfortunately, for the time being this liberalization exists only on paper........."
